BTEA SAFETY COMMITTEE HOLDS SEMINAR ON FEDERAL AND LOCAL CRANE RULES

 The BTEA’s Safety Committee recently sponsored a seminar on federal and local crane operations and safety issues at Turner Construction Company.  Over sixty attendees heard presentations by John Frowd from OSHA, Delia Shumway, Executive Director of Cranes and Derricks from the New York City Department of Buildings, Graham Brent, Executive Director of the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators, Bethany Klein from Tishman Construction and Darell Fullerton from Environmental Safety Consultants. 

The panelists covered a wide range of topics regarding crane operations including federal and local crane laws and regulations as well as “best practices”.  The Moderator for the panel was Jeff Hutchens from Turner Construction and Chair of the BTEA’s Safety Committee.

NYC DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO POST MONTHLY REPORTS ONLINE

The The Department of Transportation has begun posting the Special Events Monthly Advisories on their website.  These advisories will be updated on a monthly basis and a notification will be sent each month when they are posted (approximately the middle of each month). 

These advisories will provide information related to specific events and are intended to assist in avoiding conflicts for present or future construction related projects.
