Concrete Strike Delayed

The Cement League and Concrete Workers Local 6-A, Cement & Concrete Workers Locals 18-A & 20, and Concrete District Council Local 16 have decided to continue their collective bargaining negotiations with a July 20, 2011 deadline date.

All concrete workers will continue to work until that date when everyone is hopeful an agreement can be reached.

Collective Bargaining Agreements Update

The following is the status of current negotiations for collective bargaining agreements between BTEA member associations and organized labor.  Further details on these agreements will be forwarded as available at a later date.

1. Unions:

  Concrete Workers Local 6-A
Cement & Concrete Workers Locals 18-A & 20
Concrete District Council Local 16

 Association:   The Cement League

 Status:   Status: Agreements with the various locals expired on June 30. Collective bargaining negotiations are continuing with a July 20 deadline (see above story).


2. Unions:

  New York City District Council of Carpenters

 Association:   Wall-Ceiling & Carpentry Industries
Building Contractors Association
The Cement League
Contractors Association of Greater New York
General Contractors Association
Greater New York Floor Coverers
Hoisting and Scaffolding Trades Association

 Status:   Contracts between the union and various associations were to expire on June 30.  These contracts were extended to July 15 pending judicial review pursuant to a proposal made on the issue of mobility.  There has been no final judicial decision rendered yet on the mobility issue.


3. Unions:

  Operating Engineers Local 14

 Association:   Building Contractors Association
Contractors Association of Greater New York
The Cement League

 Status:   An agreement was reached between Local 14 and the various associations on June 30.  The agreement is subject to a ratification vote by the rank and file on July 14.


4. Unions:

  Operating Engineers Local 15

 Association:   Building Contractors Association
Contractors Association of Greater New York
The Cement League

 Status:   An agreement was reached between Local 15 and the associations and ratified by the rank and file.


5. Unions:

  Roofers and Waterproofers Local 8

 Association:   Roofing and Waterproofing Contractors

 Status:   A tentative agreement has been reached between the union and association.


6. Unions:

  Teamsters Local 282

 Association:   New York City Demolition Contractors

 Status:   An agreement has been reached between the two parties and is subject to ratification by the union rank and file.


7. Unions:

  Painters and Allied Trades District Council 9

 Association:   Master Painters & Decorators of NY

 Status:   A four year agreement was reached expiring in April, 2015.


8. Unions:

  Mason Tenders Council Local 79

 Association:   Contractors Association of Greater New York

 Status:   A three year agreement has been reached between CAGNY and Local 78.


9. Unions:

  Steamfitters Local 638

 Association:   Mechanical Contractors of Greater New York

 Status:   A three year agreement was reached by both parties and ratified by the rank and file.The agreement expires in June, 2014.


10. Unions:

  Sheet Metal Local 28

 Association:   Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors Association

 Status:   Negotiations between both parties are underway.The current contract is scheduled to expire on July 31.


10. Unions:

  Glaziers Local 1281

 Association:   Window and Plate Glass Dealers Association of New York

 Status:   A six year agreement was reached by both parties.
