IENUSO, KANNER, PLATE HONORED AT 2013 BTEA ANNUAL LEADERSHIP DINNER

Some 600 people attended the BTEA’s 2013 Alfred G. Gerosa Leadership Dinner on April 25. The event, held at 583 Park Avenue, honored Joseph Ienuso, Executive Vice President for University Facilities at Columbia University; Sabrina Kanner, Senior Vice President for Design and Construction at Brookfield Properties; and Steven Plate, Deputy Chief of Capital Planning & Director of World Trade Center Construction at the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
Executive Co-Chairmen for the 2013 Dinner included Jay Badame of Tishman Construction, Pat A. Di Filippo of Turner Construction, Ralph Esposito of Lend Lease (US) Construction, LMB Inc. The Dinner Vice Chairmen were Richard Kennedy of Skanska USA Building and David Pinter of Zwicker Electric Company, Inc.

BTEA RECEIVES SAFETY TRAINING GRANT
The BTEA recently received notification from the New York State Hazard Abatement Board, that it will receive funding in the amount of $74,429 for safety training for the period of August 1, 2013, through July 31, 2014. The funding amount represents an increase of 54% over the current year.
The grant funds will be utilized to provide free safety training in areas such as OSHA 10, Site Safety Manager, and Scaffold Safety Training, among others. The BTEA will publish a list of scheduled classes for this grant period beginning in August 2013. Please look for additional details for upcoming safety training classes at www.bteany.com.
BTEA CONTINUES TO PRESS ALBANY ON CONTRACTOR ISSUES
BTEA President Louis Coletti recently met with various leaders of the New York State Senate and Assembly, as well as key staff of the Office of Governor Andrew Cuomo, on issues that are of great importance to the contractor members of the BTEA.
Among the issues addressed with the various officials were reform of Scaffold Labor Laws 240/241 and future state efforts in modifying Minority and Women Business Enterprises (M/WBE) requirements for state projects. These are among several issues currently on the agenda of the BTEA’s Government Affairs Committee.

BTEA 100 GOLF CLASSIC TO BE HELD ON JUNE 17
The BTEA’s “100 Golf Classic” will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Alpine Country Club in Demarest, New Jersey. This annual BTEA golf outing is limited to 100 golfers. The 100 Golf Classic includes brunch, golf, cocktail reception and dinner. Individuals may also choose to attend the event’s dinner separately. Sponsorships are also available for this golf outing.
